Proposed BID (Business Improvement District) Scheme

Local Government Act 2001 as amended by the Local Government (Business Improvement Districts) Act 2006

Under Section 129 C of the Local Government Business Improvement Districts Act 2006, a proposal to continue the Business Improvement District (BID) and extend the implementation of a BID Scheme has been received from the Business Improvement District Scheme Dundalk CLG in respect of the town of Dundalk.

The purpose of a Business Improvement District is to enable the ratepayers within the boundaries of the proposed BID to draw up a scheme of projects, services and works which are additional to those provided by Louth County Council and will be carried out for the benefit of the BID District (i.e. Dundalk Town).

If the Local Authority approves the proposed extension of the scheme, having first conducted a plebiscite of local ratepayers, the BID Scheme will last for five years and be financed by an annual BID contribution levy imposed on and collected from ratepayers of rateable property within Dundalk Town.

The key objective of this BID Scheme is to continue to develop and implement a series of new and additional initiatives designed to both further promote and improve the trading environment for the area of Dundalk Town in which the ratepayers operate their businesses.

The Business Improvement District includes the entire former administrative area of Dundalk Town Council.
A map of the area is on public display as indicated below.

The BID Proposal may be inspected at the offices of Louth County Council, County Hall, Millennium Centre, St. Alphonsus Road, Dundalk, Co.
