Louth County Council has undertaken a speed limit review of all public roads in towns, villages and settlements with an existing speed limit of 60km/h or lower. These speed limits have been assessed in accordance with the Department of Transport Guidelines 2015 (and subsequent amendments) and proposed urban speed limit changes recommended.
The Council is running a 2-week non-statutory consultation including drop in events to facilitate public feedback on the proposals. Proposals include the introduction of several 30km/h Urban Zones.
The draft Urban Speed Limit proposals will be available for public inspection during office hours from Tuesday 22nd July to 5pm Tuesday 05th August 2025 and also:

A further statutory consultation period for the Draft Urban Speed Limit Byelaws will take place later in the year inviting final submissions.
