SITE NOTICE

Part XI of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (as amended)
Part 8, Article 81 of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended)
Proposed Development: – Dundalk Fire Station Training Centre at Meadow Grove, Dundalk,            Co. Louth
 

Louth County Council hereby gives notice of its intention to develop a new training facility on the grounds of Dundalk Fire Station, at Meadow Grove, Dundalk Town, Co. Louth. The proposed development consists of;

  • New Two Storey Training Centre (approx. 700m2),
  • New Single Storey Storage Shed,
  • Renovation of existing breathing apparatus building,
  • New Gas Storage Compound,
  • New Training Tower and Stairs,
  • New Two Storey Containerised Building with specialist gas simulation within,
  • New hard landscaping, perimeter fencing, kerbing, landscaping, trees, electric vehicle charging and accessible car parking, service connections, new site entrance, new yard surface, small element of demolition works and associated site works

In accordance with S.I. 476, 2011, Section 250, Planning and Development (Amendment) (No.3) Regulations, 2011 and S.I. 296, 2018 European Union (Planning and Development) (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2018, Louth County Council has carried out screenings and has determined the following:

  • The preliminary assessment concludes that the project is not expected to cause any significant adverse effects, either individually or in combination with other plans or projects. Therefore, an Appropriate Assessment (AA) is not required for the project.
  • There is no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment so therefore the preliminary assessment has concluded that an Environmental Impact Assessment Report is not required.

Any person may, within 4 weeks from the date of this notice, apply to An Coimisiún Pleanála, for an EIA screening determination as to whether the development would be likely to have significant effects on the environment.

Plans and particulars of the proposed development may be inspected or purchased, at a fee not exceeding the reasonable cost of making a copy, from Tuesday 14th July, 2026 to Tuesday 11th August, 2026 inclusive at the offices of Louth County Council, as noted below during public opening hours at:

  • Louth County Council, County Hall, Millennium Centre, Marshes Lower, Dundalk, Co. Louth, A91 KFW6 and
  • Louth County Council, Town Hall, Crowe Street, Dundalk, Co. Louth A91 W20C

Plans and particulars will also be available to view online at https://planning.localgov.ie/en

Submissions or observations with respect to the proposed development, dealing with the proper planning and sustainable development of the area in which the development would be situated, clearly marked “Part 8 Dundalk Fire Station Training Centre” may be made on or before 5:00pm on Tuesday 25th August, 2026 either:

  • In writing to the undersigned at Louth County Council, County Hall, Millennium Centre, Dundalk, or

I gcomhréir le S.I. 476, 2011, Alt 250, na Rialacháin um Pleanáil agus Forbairt (Leasú) (Uimh.3), 2011 agus S.I. 296, 2018 Rialacháin an Aontais Eorpaigh (Pleanáil agus Forbairt) (Measúnú Tionchair Timpeallachta) Rialacháin 2018, tá scagadh déanta ag Comhairle Contae Lú agus tá na nithe seo a leanas socraithe aici:

  • Baintear de thátal as an réamh-mheasúnú nach bhfuiltear ag súil go mbeidh aon drochthionchar suntasach ag an tionscadal, ina aonar nó i gcomhcheangal le pleananna nó tionscadail eile. Mar sin, níl Measúnú Cuí (AA) ag teastáil don tionscadal.
  • Níl aon dóchúlacht i ndáiríre go mbeidh tionchar suntasach ar an gcomhshaol agus mar sin tháinig an réamh-mheasúnú ar an tátal nach bhfuil gá le Tuarascáil Measúnaithe Tionchair Timpeallachta.

Féadfaidh aon duine, laistigh de 4 seachtaine ó dháta an fhógra seo, iarratas a dhéanamh chuig an gCoimisiún Pleanála ar chinneadh scagtha i dtaca le Measúnú Tionchair Timpeallachta (MTT) maidir le cibé acu is dócha nó nach dócha go mbeadh tionchair shuntasacha ag an bhforbairt ar an gcomhshaol.

Féadfar pleananna agus sonraí na forbartha beartaithe a iniúchadh nó a cheannach, ar tháille nach mó ná an costas réasúnach a bhaineann le cóip a dhéanamh, ón Máirt 14 Lúil 2026 go dtí an Mháirt 11 Lúnasa 2026 an dá dháta sin san áireamh, in oifigí Chomhairle Contae Lú mar atá sonraithe thíos le linn gnáthuaireanta oscailte poiblí ag:
