Section 38 of The Road Traffic Act 1994, as amended
In accordance with the provisions of Section 38 of the Road Traffic Act, 1994 as amended, Louth County Council hereby gives notice of its intention to provide the following road traffic calming measures at the following locations:

Safe Routes to School St. Brigid’s and St Patrick’s National School Drogheda – Bóthar Brugha Road (L-16651-1)
Safe Routes to School Scoil Aonghusa National SchoolDrogheda -Sundays Gate (L1665-87), Magdalene Street (L1666-86), Scarlett Street (L1664-81), King Street (L-16643-75), Patrick Street (L-1000-63)
Safe Routes to School St Louis Secondary School Dundalk – Castletown Road (R934), Mill Road (L-20018-40), Bellews Bridge Road (L-2000-740)
Traffic Calming Measures:
The proposed measures aim to provide safe routes for children walking, cycling and scooting to school while also helping reduce traffic speeds, provide safe pedestrian crossings for vulnerable road users and those with reduced mobility and improve accessibility.
The extent of works over the three schools is c.1.9km of existing carriageway with no works outside the existing road / verge / footpath footprint and primarily consists of:
New Road Markings,
Ramps at signalised junctions,
Removal of metal vehicle restraint barriers.
Installation of traffic signals,
Dowelled in bollards,
Kerb cuts, ramp accesses and small sections of footpath to connect into existing footpath,
Improvement in markings, tactiles and signage for footpaths
Temporary traffic management during the works, and associated works
In accordance with S.I. 476, 2011, Section 250, Planning and Development (Amendment) (No.3) Regulations, 2011 and S.I. 296, 2018 European Union (Planning and Development) (Environmental Impact Assessment) Regulations 2018, Louth County Council has carried out screenings and has determined the following:
An Appropriate Assessment is not required.
There is no real likelihood of significant effects on the environment so therefore the preliminary assessment has concluded that an Environmental Impact Assessment Report is not required.
Drawings and particulars indicating the proposals will be available for inspection
during normal office hours from Tuesday 9th July, 2024 to Tuesday 23rd July, 2024 inclusive at the following locations:
