Notice of Application to An Bord Pleanála for Approval

Louth County Council

 

Pursuant to Section 177AE(4)(a) of the Planning and Development Act 2000 (amended) and the requirements of the Planning and Development Regulations 2001 (as amended), notice is hereby given that Louth County Council proposes to make an application for approval to an Bord Pleanála to carry out development which involves the construction of the Boyne Greenway – North Bank, in the townlands of Mell and Moneymore, Drogheda, Co Louth. The proposed development consists of:

 

  • the construction of a new pathway (c. 650 m in length) and upgrades to an existing footpath (widening the existing footpath from 2m to 3m over a length of c. 950m) over a total length of c.1.6km for pedestrians and cyclists to include elements of resurfacing, fencing, access gateways, road signs and markings, drainage, public lighting, and furnishing of designated locations with benches, litter bins and bicycle racks and all associated ancillary and accommodation works.
  • A section of the existing footpath to be upgraded is located within the River Boyne and River Blackwater Special Area of Conservation (Site Code 002299).

 

A Natura Impact Statement has been prepared in respect of the proposed development. An Bord Pleanala, in relation to an application for approval under section 177AE, of the Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended, may give approval to the application for development with or without conditions or may refuse the application for development.

 

The Natura Impact Statement, together with Plans and Particulars of the proposed development, will be available for inspection free of charge and can be downloaded free of charge at www.louthcoco.ie or may be purchased on payment of a small fee (which fee shall not exceed the reasonable cost of making such a copy), during normal office hours 9.00 am to 5.00 pm Monday to Friday from Tuesday 3rd January 2023 until Friday 17th February 2023 at

 

  • County Hall, Millennium Centre, St Alphonsus Street, Dundalk, Co Louth
  • County Council Offices, Fair Street, Drogheda, Co Louth or
  • The consultation portal of Louth County Council https://consult.louthcoco.ie/

 

Submissions or observations may be made to An Bord Pleanála on the proposed development in relation to:

 

  • The implications of the proposed development for proper planning and sustainable development in the area concerned,
  • The likely effects on the environment of the proposed development, and
  • The likely significant effects of the proposed development on a European site, if carried out.

 

Any submissions or observations may be made in writing to An Bord Pleanála, 64 Marlborough Street, Dublin 1, DO1 V902 not later Friday 17th February 2023 at 5.30 pm.

 

A person may question the validity of any such decision by the Board by way of an application for judicial review under Order 84 of the Rules of the Superior Courts (S.I. No. 15 of 1986) in accordance with Section 50 of the Planning and Development Act 2000, as amended.
